Mochi — wellness companion for iPhone & Apple Watch
Last updated: June 4, 2026TL;DR
We don't collect your data. Everything stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch. No servers, no analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs, no tracking.
1.Data we read
Mochi reads the following data on your device, only after you grant permission via the iOS / watchOS Health system prompts:
- Step count — to fill your daily step goal and update your pet's mood.
- Active energy — to display activity info on the iPhone stats screen.
- Sleep analysis — to detect your bedtime and reward you for going to sleep on schedule.
You may decline any of the above and the app continues to function in manual mode.
2.Data we store
Mochi stores the following data on your device only, inside the iOS App Group container shared between the iOS app, the Apple Watch app, and the iPhone widgets:
- Your virtual pet's name, species, and equipment
- Your virtual pet's numeric stats (mood, energy, fullness, etc.)
- A rolling 90-day history of step totals and bedtimes
- Your goal preferences (step target, bedtime, notification settings, difficulty)
- Accessories you have unlocked or purchased with in-app coins
All of the above is serialized to a JSON file on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere.
3.Data we do not collect
- We do not collect personally identifying information (no email, no name, no account, no Apple ID).
- We do not use any analytics SDK (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, AppsFlyer).
- We do not show advertisements and we do not use ad networks.
- We do not sell or share your data — because we do not have your data.
- We do not transmit your HealthKit data to anyone, anywhere, ever.
4.Notifications
The app schedules local notifications on your device (walk reminders, bedtime nudges, reward celebrations). They are scheduled and delivered entirely by iOS and watchOS. We do not use Apple Push Notification service or any remote push provider.
5.Third parties
Mochi contains no third-party SDKs. It links only the system frameworks shipped by Apple: SwiftUI, HealthKit, WatchConnectivity, WidgetKit, UserNotifications, Combine, Foundation, and Swift Charts.
6.Children
Mochi is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any data from children — because we do not collect any data from anyone.
7.Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
Because no data ever leaves your device, traditional data-subject-rights workflows (access, deletion, portability) translate to a single action: iOS Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → app data removes everything. You may also use Settings → Reset everything inside Mochi for a one-tap wipe.
8.Apple Health permissions
You may revoke any HealthKit permission at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Mochi. The app will continue to work in manual mode.
9.Changes to this policy
If we ever start collecting data (for example, an optional cloud sync feature), we will:
- Update this document and bump the date above.
- Show an in-app screen explaining the new flow before any data leaves your device.
- Make the data collection strictly opt-in.
